wardrobe makeover

My personal dresser took me to Louis' 2 for 1 Monday sale from which she unfitted me in 8 pants, 8 tops, 2 jackets, 2 pairs of pyjamas and 2 vests, all name brands for $48.16, This gem of a shopper had been watching my clothes get baggier and baggier as I lost more and more weight, so she took pity on me and invited me to her favourite sport - shopping at the second hand emporium. I never would have done it on my own.

way to go

I cannot even remember what this revolting lunch was. I took the picture a while back, BUT I have lost 30 pounds. Just picture 30  pounds of butter stacked one on top of each other and that is how much I have lost.

ordinary is good

Back to the diet - the boring diet - but boring is good compared to:
  1. Funchal Madeira. I was horrified at the pictures coming out of Funchal. Last year Joanne and I walked those same streets in the sunshine enjoying our first land fall after crossing the Atlantic. Now the flood waters have wrecked havoc. Check out this great MSN Video: 'Scene of absolute devastation'
  2. And Kate is home after surviving the capsizing the tall ship, Concordia, and over forty hours in a life boat. Her family are very active members in my congregation:  Check out this great MSN Video: Canadian sailing ship sinks
So boring is looking good at the moment.

temptation

I yielded to temptation. It came in the form of a gift of fudge. In Quebec we called it "Sucre a la Creme". It is sinful in either language, and I plunged off the diet waggon. I tested one, and then another and then another.. And tonight is the staff party at the very best Chinese restaurant. What am I to do? Mea culpa, mea cula, mea maxima culpa.

15 lbs. 13 "

The diet continues ... and it is especially hard during this Christmas season. My blood pressure and my knees are thanking me.
And now for a completely different subject, my favourite theological site with an explanation of atonement:

10 pounds

Some things don't change. We may be metric in this country but we diet in pounds and inches. So far I have lost 10 pounds and 6 inches. For those who are concerned about this, there is now less of me to love, but I am more concentrated, and you'll probably have me around for longer.

Hampton alert: I'm heading back home to the Bay Shore for a couple of nights once I've finished work here today.

pancake breakfast

I was the first at the Pancake Breakfast, so my picture was taken as "First Customer". Soon the place filled up. I had stuff to do at the office before heading for a daylong event so I had come fairly early. So ever mindful of the diet and the pot luck lunch to come, I tucked into the pancakes and good conversation. Ministry is a very broadening experience. That is the problem. Oh... I'm the one on the left.

5 lbs!

I've started the diet and have lost 5 pounds! Rejoice with me and, no, I am not showing you the "before" picture. The challenge is that working in the church is a broadening experience. Like I was invited to a lovely luncheon today with three, count them, three different kinds of Nanaimo Bars. I did not do a taste test. I forwent them all. Sacrifice!
